O_O Dine Out Vancouver (2nd night)--Al Porto Ristorante

2nd DOV:
Al Porto Ristorante--Italian cuisine
DOV $25

Al Porto Ristorante locates at Gas Town and it's pretty easy to find.

There are two entrances, one on the main street another one is down the corner on the slope.

The restaurant is very nice and pretty big. There is a big room that is suitable for a big private party!

Nice decor~

Another side of the restaurant and I guess it's able to see some view~

There is a bar that customers can sit and have some drinks while they are waiting for the seats.

Menu of the night

The buns are pretty good and some of them contain garlic!

Appetizer:

That's what I had: Tuscan Liver Parfait and it's really good~

Insalata Caprese

Carpaccio Di Manzo

Main course of the night:

This is what I had tonight--Penne Arrabiata and it's a spicy penne. Portion may be a bit too big for me that I couldn't finish all~

Frutti di Mare alla Casalinga--Seafood (there's scallop and prawn).
Polo Cacciatore

Dessert of the night:
I really really like this chocolate ganache torte, very richy chocolate taste, I LOVE IT!
Zuppa Inglese--it's a fruit dessert
Tiramisu: I guess we're dining at Italian restaurant but this tiramisu is a French style. Interesting~

O_O Dine Out Vancouver (1st night)--Hamilton Street Grill

Tonight, I went to the Hamilton Street Grill which locates at Yaletown. Oh well, it is not that good (maybe I just don't have the luck to have better service and food).

I paid $35CAD for tonight's dinner! The waitress acted like she didn't want to serve us and even the ladies at another table (they got another server) realized that she had a problem. The ladies came to us when they were done and asked us "geez, she acts like she doesn't want to work here" I KNOW! BAD SERVICE!

The decor is pretty nice but we sat at the kitchen side (which was not as good as the other side).

I expect Angus beef should be good good good, but....

Tonight's menu--$35 menu

Lobster Bisque--a bit too creamy~

My appetizer of the night, the tuna which was the best course of all! The only thing I picked may be the sauce, which was a bit bitter.

Buns~

Main course--King of Steak

OK... about the steak, I was a bit disappointed because it was barely warm but the mash potato was hot and good! So I asked the waitress if they could do anything, she just looked at us for 5 secs and then said : "Oh really? ..... maybe I can ask the chef to re-grill". I asked if it's ok since I know after re-grill, my steak might turn out to be well-done but I trusted them. However, it's a bad move.... haha! I am not sure if they really re-grill or microwave because the steak shrinked in size and the other side was like burnt already. Sigh~ The worst is the steak became so dry and non-juicy anymore. My friend just had half of it and I saw the lady at another table who ordered the same thing also ate half of the steak as well.

Hightlight of the night--Dessert

Chocolate brownie

I don't wanna talk about it anymore.... a video's worth thousands of words.. hahah

Since I was using a digital camera but not a video camera, the quality of the video may not be as good as you expect. After few min, I still tried hard to CHOP the brownie....

If you ask me to make a comment on the brownie, sorry, it's too gummy and hard as stone! I just had a tiny bite but again, the waitress barely cared when she saw the plates....

Overall, sometimes I understand the food quality has swings.... but service should be good ALL THE TIME! I expect to have not excellent, but at least nice service when I dine out at such a restaurant at Yaletown..... I am really disappointed with the service!!!
